Family migration is to allow for certain people to join their relatives in Australia . Applicants must be Australian citizens, or Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens with relatives in Australia who can sponsor them, or be in an interdependent relationship with sponsor.

For the husband / wife / de facto partner of a sponsor, who wish to travel Australia and take up permanent residence in Australia with the sponsor. De facto partners must have live together as husband and wife for a period of twelve months before making an application. |

Spouse |
A prospective spouse (fiance) intending to marry the sponsor in Australia, who has personally met the sponsor. |

Child |
A natural or adopted child of the sponsor and on whom they are dependent. |

Parent |
A parent, of the sponsor who has been resident in Australia for two years, who meets the balance of family test. This reflects the immigration principle of close family reunion by allowing entry to Australia for settlement of persons who have at least as many of their children in Australia as overseas. |

Other |
Other family migration visas include; adopted child, last remaining relative, aged dependent relative, orphan relative, and carer. |
